Dr. Baker Medicine Faker
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Dr. Norman G Baker was a huckster who scammed desperate people out of millions of dollars. This week we cover the shameless snake oil salesman and his connection to the famously haunted Crescent Hotel.
Cindy prepared a feast of chicken fried steak with Arkansas baked string beans and mashed potatoes which of course was based on the theme which was Arkansas. Dessert was also based on the theme, it was a possum pie. It had no possums in it. Thanks to God. Cindy killed it with that one once again. For drinks, we shared Arkansas Razorbacks made from a mixture of spirits, no pun intended. It was not to Nydia’s liking but then again; what is?

A Sad State of Affairs
Wednesday Sep 07, 2022
Wednesday Sep 07, 2022
No marriage is perfect, and Grace Pianka and Adam Kostewicz were no exception. Hidden behind the doors of their home, no one ever truly knew what was happening. This is a story of an immigrant family attaining the American dream and turning it into an American nightmare. It’s a story of losing it all for love.
For dinner, we went with a Polish theme. Cindy made Polish Pork Goulash and potato pancakes. The eatin was so good! For dessert, Cindy came up with a love theme and made strawberry crunch cheesecake cones, and yes, they were to die for! The meal was paired with Portlandia Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, one of Nydia’s favorites.

Wednesday Aug 31, 2022
This week we cover the story of the Somerton man. His death left a lot of people scratching their heads. Was he a spy, a lonely, depressed traveler, or an alien? For years, it was all a mystery. But now, thanks to modern science, we have an update.
For dinner, Cindy made some delicious beef and vegetable pasties. Delicious doesn’t even describe these. For dessert, she went all out with mini pavlovas. We were in heaven with those amazing treats. Our beverage was Clos Otto Boxhead Shiraz a show favorite.

Wednesday Aug 24, 2022
Wednesday Aug 24, 2022
This week we share a story that will have you checking all corners of your house. This family had no idea that a killer lived amongst them, plotting their demise. We cover the ultimate invasion of privacy; phrogging.
Our chef, Cindy, went with a hidden ingredients theme. For dinner, she made pulled pork sandwiches but instead of bread she used plantains. For dessert, she made us brownies, the secret ingredient...avocados! We drank Cellar 1599 Moscato, a delicious treat of a wine.

Wednesday Aug 17, 2022
Covid has launched a plague upon our homes and we were not able to record an episode for you this week but we didn’t want to leave you hanging. If you have ever seen this documentary and need to unpack it, check out how we react. There’s nothing funny about murder but some of the details of this case are quite laughable. This type of reaction episode is a taste of what we offer on Patreon. We hope you enjoy it and decide to head on over there to support us.

Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
This week we share a story that will have you scratching your head. You think you love someone; but do you love someone like Steven Jay Russell loved Phillip Morris? This con-man had a love so strong that prison bars couldn’t contain it.
On the menu… prison food. Cindy researched inmate favorites and came up with a menu of ziti with beef meatballs, a house salad, Italian dressing, and a slice of white bread. For dessert, blueberry pound cake, and what else would we drink if not toilet wine? Kidding, of course, we had the next best thing: homemade Grenach wine.

Unfriended
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022
This week we cover the Facebook murders, an unbelievable story of how loneliness and social isolation can lead to bullying, harassment, and even death. This real-life story of catfishing and love triangles shook a small town in Tennessee to the core.
Cindy dug up some recipes she saved on her Facebook page just for this episode. She made us a Chicken Tetrazzini that Nydia and Dana would not stop raving about. Then she hit us with a Twinkie cake that could not be beat. The question is what did they think about the Waltz Vineyard Rose?

Wednesday Jul 27, 2022
The Golden Girls were a staple of our youth but what was the secret to the show’s success? Why did we tune in to watch four old ladies? We came for the laughs and stayed for the friendship; kind of like this podcast. This week we discuss the show and the private lives of the actors.
For dinner, we went with a southern theme. Cindy prepared recipes from the Golden Girls Cookbook. We had the Southern Not So Fried Chicken with honey Bourbon carrots and buttermilk mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had Mr. Ha Ha’s cheesecake. We washed it all down with Amaretto Sours.
